The Precinct ReOrgs will be in March, and the date/ time/ location varies according to which precinct you vote in for elections. The schedule for the Berkeley County Republican Party Precinct ReOrg is shown below . Plan to be at the ReOrg meeting early, since they have to get everyone "checked in". Bring your Driver's License or other ID to verify your address, and if you have your Voter Registration Card, bring that also (if you can't find it you can bring it up on your phone at the SCVOTES.gov website).
At the Precinct ReOrg meetings in March, the people in attendance will vote to determine who becomes the "EC" -- Executive Committeeman for the Precinct. That is the person who can vote at the County EC Meetings.
(If you are willing to be an EC, that would be great!)
They will also elect the Precinct President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer.
The main distinction is that the President can cover for the EC at a County Executive Committee meeting -- that is be a "proxy" -- automatically if the EC is absent. (But actually, anyone in the precinct can be a proxy with a written note from the EC.)
Also, you will vote to determine who will be delegates to the County Convention on April 12th, 9am at Berkeley High School -- definitely try to become a delegate to the County Convention (and even the State Convention in May!)
It is important for you to elect the "Committeeman" (SCGOP calls them Executive Committeemen -ECs) that will represent your precinct on the County Party Executive Committee which RUNS the County Party for the next two years. They will have the power to set budgets, endorse candidates, censure public officials and incumbents, send resolutions of the will and opinions of the republican voters in your county to the state executive committee, the press, and the public and anything else needed to operate YOUR county party.
It is also important for you to be and to elect others like you to serve as COUNTY delegates to go to the April Berkeley County Republican Convention and elect your county party officers and STATE delegates who will then elect your state officers and make other important decisions at the SC Republican State Convention in May.
